North West Island is a coral atoll in Capricornia Cays National Marine Park surrounded by reef. Activities on the island include short and easy walks, swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, turtle watching (green turtles), reef walking, bird observing, photography, spear fishing. The only development on the island is three composting toilet blocks. No roads, no vehicles. Access is via slow barge from Gladstone, which will take unlimited camping equipment. I am organizing an 8-day trip for up to 40 people at the end of October when the turtles are nesting on the island. In 2009 the cost for the barge was $234 per person return. Camping cost is $5 per night. I need to have expressions of interest by the end of January 2010. I can provide additional information on request.
