Review of the Nature Conservation Act 1980


The Nature Conservation Act 1980 is the chief legislation for the protection of native plants and animals in the ACT and for the management of the conservation reserve network.

The Act protects native plants and animals, and provides management authority for conservation lands. It provides the legal underpinning of nature conservation policy, management and action across the Territory.
A review of the Act is being undertaken by the Department of the Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water on behalf of the ACT Government.

A Discussion Paper on the review of the Act is now available for public comment.

All submissions will be considered in understand the review of the Nature Conservation Act 1980. Submissions will be treated as public documents and displayed on this website.
