Tracking Rambo

Rambo the Rosenberg’s Goanna received some high-level attention on Mount Ainslie on 22 November when he was released wearing a GPS pack to track his movements.

On hand was ACT Environment Minister, Rebecca Vassarotti, who has taken a keen interest in the NPA Goanna Project, which has been researching ACT goannas, mainly Rosenberg’s Goannas in the Naas Valley in Namadgi National Park and at Mount Ainslie.

NPA received funding for the project from the ACT Government Environmental Grants Program. The research findings are important for conservation of other goanna species as well as Rosenberg’s Goanna and have attracted international interest.
