Dingo (Canis lupus dingo) or Warrigal

Dingo (Canis lupus dingo) or Warrigal - Photography by Adrienne Nicholson

Dingoes exhibit a wide range of colouring in Namadgi National Park but they are genetically essentially pure dingoes (Fletcher, D., 2006 NPA ACT Symposium: Caring for Namadgi - Science and People). They howl and mate just once per year unlike domesticated dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) which are also descended from the Grey Wolf.
