834 Brolga - Photography by Kevin McCue

The Brolga (Grus rubicunda), is also called the Australian Crane and is the official bird emblem of Queensland. Brolgas are widespread in north and north-east Australia, and are common as far south as Victoria. They are also found in southern New Guinea and as rare vagrants in New Zealand. This one was at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve.
