009 Chert - Photography by Kevin McCue

Small deposits of chert have been mapped in Namadgi National Park (see the 2008 geological map by Abell and others, 2008), and this hard rock seems to have been highly prized by aboriginal stone tool makers. This 20mm long worked rock found in Namadgi National Park (and still there) may well have been used as a scraper or cutting tool.
