202 White-faced Heron - Photography by Sabine Friedrich

This is the most commonly seen heron in Australia and can be seen throughout Australia. Only occasionally do you see one with a buff-coloured breast. They have a special hinge in their neck at the 6th vertebra that allows them to fold it for flying and extend it quickly when feeding.
