Rare Antechinus rediscovered

ACT Government ecologists have rediscovered the Yellow-footed Antechinus, not detected in the Territory for over 30 years. This will give land managers a better understanding of the species and its habitat requirement.

Small and difficult to observe, native insects and other invertebrates are under-appreciated by the public. Retired entomologist Kimberi Pullen is working to change perceptions by compiling a list of over 8,000 insect species in the ACT.

'Death by a thousand cuts': Canberra's disappearing biodiversity

A new report is highly critical of the failure to protect biodiversity in the ACT from further degradation for urbanisation and warns that Canberra's reputation and aesthetic as the Bush Capital is at stake. 

Namadgi celebrations top a year of achievement

The celebration of the 40th anniversary of the gazettal of Namadgi National Park in October 2024 was the highlight of an eventful year for NPA,  the Annual Report for 2024 - 25 shows. Other highlights include our involvement in a 4-year campaign to protect the ACT’s high-country bogs and fens and a full and varied outings program.
