(Cancelled) Saturday walk - Yankee Hat rock art and surrounds - 06 Jun 26
Cancelled due to Boboyan Rd closure for road works
Meet 8 am at Kambah Village Shops car park for carpooling. From Yankee Hut car park we will head past Foresters Hut then turn south, eventually west, where we will visit a ‘brick factory’ site on way to Frank and Jacks Hut for morning tea. Then we'll head north west over Bogong Creek causeway before turning north where we'll pass what is possibly the location of the last known Aboriginal gathering in the ACT. [Queanbeyan Observer 11 March 1913: Miss McKeahnie described a meeting of approximately 500 Aborigines here.] We continue north to the reopened Yankee Hat rock art site. Heading east, we'll visit Sinclairs (aka Greens) Hut site then return to vehicles on new Bogong Creek walkway. Lunch en route, relaxed pace. Distance 13 km and climb about 350 m. Register online by 4 June.
