60 years of achievement

NPA ACT is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2020 with the theme Protecting our national parks for future generations. This will be an occasion for us to reflect on our many achievements in the protection and promotion of national parks, most notably the key role we played in the creation of Namadgi National Park as well as to forge new directions and to respond to the  daunting environmental challenges that we face today. These include climate change, species extinction and poor management of our natural resources, among others. A Forum was held on 06/04/19 to plan our way forward. The report is here.

Throughout 2020, NPA ACT will hold a number of events to highlight the beauty, importance and critical needs of our national parks. Watch this website for information about a competition for young photographers, a camping experience for families, commemorative nature walks,  a special evening for members and invited guests  to celebrate this significant milestone, and more.

Environmental Photography Competition – closing date 11 September

We’re calling on all young (17–35), amateur photographers to send us their best nature shots.

If you love landscape photography, or prefer getting up close with flora and fauna, or perhaps have a special interest in conservation and have captured stunning images of environmental resilience and recovery from the devastating bushfires of the past summer, this is the competition for you.

Co-sponsoring the competition with NPA are PhotoAccess, ACT Natural Resource Management and Icon Water. There are generous cash prizes and other awards for the winning entries.

Full details of the competition and how to enter are here.

Other 60th events are here.
