How we operate

A Management Committee is responsible for policy and management.  It is elected at the Annual General Meeting held in August.  Working groups assist the Management Committee in carrying out its responsibilities.  These include:
  • A Bulletin Working Group which prepares and produces the quarterly Bulletin.
  • An Outings Sub-committee which compiles the quarterly program of bushwalks, camps, nature rambles, environmental studies and ski tours.
  • A Publications Sub-committee which handles all publications produced by the NPA, including Field Guides, Proceedings, E-Mail Newsletters, website etc.
  • An Environment Sub-committee which coordinates submissions, reports and responses to requests for advice on environmental matters.
The association is financed by membership fees, donations, grants and the sale of publications.  From time to time it receives funding from the ACT Government for park and conservation advocacy.  Being a prescribed environmental organisation under federal Taxation legislation, donations to the NPA ACT are income tax deductable.

General meetings are held at 8.00pm on the third Thursday of each month February to November (see note) at the Uniting Church Hall, 56 Scrivener Street, O'Connor, ACT.  Meetings feature a guest speaker and end with a chat over tea or coffee. All members and friends are welcome.
Note: Easter sometimes interferes with our April meeting. Check our events listing to confirm.
