The Glenburn Precinct

The Glenburn Precinct was placed on the ACT Heritage Register in November 2015. It contains several relics of early European settlement that commenced in the area in the early 1830s.

Location of the Precinct

The Precinct is located behind locked gates in the commercially operated Kowen pine forest. The main access is via Charcoal Kiln Road that runs to the north off the Kings Highway some 10 km from Queanbeyan.

Trails for Walkers and Cyclists

There are three trails in the Precinct:
  • the 10 km Glenburn Heritage Trail;
  • the 10 km Burbong Heritage Trail; and
  • the 12 km Precinct Loop Trail.
The routes of these trails are shown on the map included in the interpretative sign ‘Glenburn Precinct – Kowen’ – see below.
