Two or three helpers are needed to trap for Rosenberg’s Goannas at Kuring-Gai Chase National Park on the northern edge of Sydney in mid-December.

The leader of NPA’s goanna project, Don Fletcher, says this could be an attractive post-exams option for some university students. Accommodation, transport and some food costs will be provided. The dates are Monday 16 December to Thursday 19 or Friday 20 December.

The goanna team has just finished trapping at ‘Scottsdale’, a Bush Heritage property on the Murrumbidgee. In 4 long days of work, the team collected DNA from 12 Rosenberg’s Goannas.

Prior to Scottsdale, the team finished DNA sampling in the Naas Valley in Namadgi National Park, where 46 samples were collected.  Later this summer the team plans to sample at Kosciuszko National Park near Khancoban and at Morton National Park.
