Congratulations to our newest life members, Philip and Jan Gatenby. Philip and Jan have been very active mainstays of NPA for probably longer than most, notching up 43 and 45 years respectively.
Philip has been a walks leader since 1982 and is still going strong. His day and pack walks in Namadgi, Kosciuszko and Budawang national parks, and Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve are always popular. With Jan the ever-reliable presence and backup navigator who keeps a quiet watch over the party, they make a great team.

For many years Philip has coordinated NPA participation in the three-club (Canberra Bushwalking Club, Brindabella Bushwalking Club and NPA) Wednesday Walks and continues to lead NPA’s hard Wednesday walks. He has also coordinated NPA work parties.
Jan and Philp contributed generously to NPA administration since the 1980s. Together they have been effective NPA ambassadors and life membership is fitting recognition of their long and boundless commitment and enthusiasm.
