Our citizen science project studying Rosenberg’s Goannas in the ACT is looking for volunteers to join its hatching patrols during spring an early summer.
Hatchling patrols are small bushwalks in the Naas Valley of Namadgi National Park, done in spring to check termite mounds for goanna nests. Basic navigation using a smartphone mapping app is required, but once your phone is set up, it is reasonably easy to learn by initially accompanying someone who knows.
The dates are:
Sunday, 5 October, 12 October and 16 November
Thursday 6 November and 4 December
Seven people can cover the seven main patrols, which usually take 2 to 3 hours.
